Hey there, welcome back to another perfect week in the Catskills. The trout have been biting, the weather’s holding, and this newsletter is absolutely packed. So I hope you enjoy and I’ll see ya out there.

CREW CONTRIBUTORS

Since the very beginning, I’ve gotten a surprising number of messages from folks asking how they can contribute to Catskill Crew — whether it’s sharing stories, passing along recipes, or offering tips on things like gardening, fly tying, tincture making, and more.

Given that Catskill Crew has always been by the people, for the people, it only makes sense to explore how this platform can open up space for more voices. There’s something powerful in the fact that this belongs to all of us, a place to connect, share, and reflect the spirit of the Catskills.

The idea of Crew Contributions is still in an early stage. I don’t know yet if it’ll be weekly, monthly, or something else entirely. But you know me, we’ll try it out and see what feels right.

If you're interested in being a Crew Contributor, click the link below and let’s see what we can build together. CREW CONTRIBUTOR FORM.

JULY 4TH PARTY

The week is finally here. We started planning this party when there was snow on the ground and wood stoves were still burning — back when July 4th felt far-off. .But now summer’s in full swing, and that distant day is suddenly right in front of us

Catskill Crew has teamed up with Deer Mountain Inn for our Second Annual July 4th Party. The forecast is looking great, so swing by for a bit or stick around for the afternoon. Meet up with some friends, hang out with neighbors, and introduce yourself to a stranger or two.

Hope to see you there. I’ll be the guy with a mustache and a Catskill Crew hat, come say hi if we haven’t met yet.

QUEST

Now that Burger Quest and Burger Fest are in the rearview, I’ve embarked on a quieter, equally daring (and delicious) journey.

I’ve been known to travel far — and travel wide — for the promise of a great meal. I’ve found myself cruising down backroads and into towns you may not even know exist, guided by nothing more than a whisper of a worthy sandwich.

And I think I may have found the greatest Chicken Cutlet Sandwich in the entire Catskills and their surroundings. But before I go crowning champions, I need to be sure I’m not leaving any cutlet behind. If you know a chicken cutlet sandwich that deserves a shot SUGGEST A CUTLET.

THE REPORT

Adopt Pets: This week, like every other week, I’d like to introduce you to a few friends who can use a helping hand. Starting things off, I’d like you to meet R.J. a wonderful little Chihuahua, Chance the cat who recently got his own second chance, and none other than Phil the goat. Every day that passes, I can’t fight the urge to start a goat farm.

House of the Week: A modern mountaintop perch in Hobart, with wall-to-wall views, 12 acres of land, and a rock climbing wall. The western views from the hot tub are pretty glorious for sipping — if you invite me over, I’ll arrive with mason jars of pre-batched Negronis.

The Sky Report: On July 3, Earth reaches its aphelion, the farthest point from the Sun all year, drifting some 152 million kilometers away. Funny enough, we're closest to the Sun in frigid January and farthest during summer - proof that the seasons come from our tilt, not our distance.
