Design Competition: Ski Patrol

Time to see what kind of design chops the Crew has. Here's the deal: I want to make a trucker hat featuring "Catskill Mountains Ski Patrol." Design it on a beer-soaked napkin, go wild in Photoshop, or let your child chicken-scratch it — it's all fair game.

I'll pick my favorites, share them in next week's newsletter and then the community will vote to decide the winner. The designer gets a cash prize, a big hug, a hat, and the glory of being the Chosen One.

Crew Club: Leaders Wanted

Now that the vote’s approved, it’s time to dive into the nitty-gritty. If you’ve got the energy and passion to lead a Crew Club (think yoga, fly fishing, board games, crafting, foraging—or pitch your own idea!), fill out the quick survey below. You can throw one-time events but ideally we find some folks that want to run regular meet-ups.

I’ll start reaching out soon so we can organize these events, build connections, and bring the community closer together.

Going, Going, Gone: Catskill-opoly

The Catskill-opoly boards have come and gone! I'm still blown away by this. Just want to say thank you again to all the folks that helped me create it, test it, the Crew Members that purchased one (or many!), and the local shops that teamed up with Catskill Crew to carry them. Couldn't have done it without you all. I've already pulled the trigger on another production run, but it'll be a while.

Night Sky: Moon Meets Pleiades

Mark your calendar for February 5th - the first quarter Moon will have a close encounter with the Pleiades star cluster in Taurus starting around 11:00pm. While visible to the naked eye, grab your binocs if you have them; if you have a telescope, dust it off - they'll transform the Pleiades from what looks like a tiny Big Dipper into a dazzling collection of stars. Fun fact: these stars formed together about 100 million years ago, and their blue glow comes from starlight illuminating an ancient cosmic dust cloud.
