Welcome back. Thanks to everyone that came out to Burger Fest last week - it was great to meet some new faces. Got a bunch going on. So come on it, take a seat, and enjoy. I’ll see ya out there.

MILESTONE
Catskill Crew has surpassed 30,000 Crew Members. So whether you’ve been here since the first day or this is your first edition, I’m glad to have you along for the ride.
Somehow, I’ve managed to not miss a week since starting and I plan to keep that streak going. I’ll continue sharing stories covering our history, wildlife, and local businesses that make the Catskills so special. There will be more events to bring us together, more weird and wild creations, and a whole lot more that I’m quietly cooking up behind the scenes.
My inbox is always open, reach out anytime, responses may be slow — it’s summer in the Catskills after all, and I’m likely waist deep in a river looking for rising trout.
To the future chapters still to be written.

RESERVOIRS
I stopped into Hound Book — the small but mighty bookshop in Roscoe — and grabbed a new stack of summer reads. One of those was Nineteen Reservoirs by Lucy Sante.

Sante offers a clear-eyed account of how the Catskill Reservoir system came to be. The lands seized, towns raised, and cemeteries dug up. The pages are filled with old maps, postcards, and photos of what once was.
This story is told reservoir-by-reservoir, from the politicians, to the construction workers, and the landowners whose livelihoods were washed away by water to ensure New York City’s taps kept flowing. Eminent domain made legal what would’ve been theft by any other name.
While this is history - it’s also a conflict that may never go away. I highly recommend giving this a read, you can learn more here.

IN STOCK
The Catskill-opoly boards are being carried all around the Catskills. You can grab a game here or stop by and visit one of my friends.
Pro tip: call ahead, they move fast, and I try my best to keep them on the shelves.
