Welcome back and it was great to meet all of you that came out to the BBQ over the weekend! As always, I got a bunch in here so hope you enjoy and I’ll see ya out there.

2 YEARS
This edition marks 2 YEARS OF CATSKILL CREW. What started as a little project (in the midst of a good ol’ existential crisis) has turned into something much larger, weirder, and more fulfilling than I ever could’ve imagined.
We’ve gone from one subscriber (hi mom) to over 41,000 folks.
More than anything, I’m impressed I haven’t missed a single week — not through cars breaking down a thousand miles from home, sickness, or good days on the river when the trout are rising.
Looking ahead, I’ll do my very best to keep the streak alive. To keep sharing stories about this wonderful place, host more events to bring us together, launch more fun products, and continue to infuriate the masses on April Fool’s (people still ask to buy the 101 Secret Swimming Holes book).
Whether you’ve been here since day one or this is your first edition — thanks for being part of it. Onwards.

APPROVED
The votes are in and the people have spoken: 97% in favor. We’re moving full steam ahead with Catskill Mountain Memory. I’m finalizing the details and getting a batch in the works. It’ll be a good way to pass time during the cold dark nights. Maybe a competition at some point to see who has the best memory in the Catskills?

FOSSILS OR VULTURES
I’m in the mood to do a deep dive but torn between 2 topics. Let me know which you’d rather read about.
Brachiopod fossils from the Devonian Period, roughly 350-400 million year when the Catskills was a river delta — or turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) with their six-foot wingspans, gliding on rising thermals seeking their next meal
