Hey there. As always, there is a whole lot going on in this edition. I hope you enjoy it - stay warm - and I’ll see ya out there.

MOUNTAIN MEMORY

Many moons ago, the crew approved a classic memorization game inspired by the Catskills.

Well, they have arrived (and I’m not sure if or when they’ll return).

There are fifty wooden tokens. Twenty-five pairs. Each token is printed with local celebrities, including black bears, hemlocks, axes, and eagles. Flip them over, test your memory, and see if you can match them all up.

The game comes in a drawstring pouch so you can throw it in your pack, play it on the go or right at home while you wait for your ice dams to melt.

It’s purposefully simple and you can play solo, with other humans, or against other humans.

There is probably a significant amount of scientific evidence that’ll back that this game keeps your working memory and processing speed sharp. But truly, it’s just a fun game.

VISIT THE VALLEY

TOGETHER WITH: FROST VALLEY YMCA

MAPLE FEST WEEKEND is around the corner. Experience maple sugaring firsthand during a special weekend up at Frost Valley. Visit the Maple Sugar House in the Catskills and learn how to identify a sugar maple tree, how sap is collected, and how it is transformed into that oh-so-sweet pure maple syrup.

THE MAPLE SUGAR HOUSE

Enjoy pancakes and waffles topped with fresh local syrup and take part in classic camp activities including crafts, climbing, archery, guided hikes, and more. March 27th to the 29th. Tickets are available here.

Looking for more adventures at Frost Valley? Check out other upcoming spring events, including their Fine Arts and Legends and Labyrinths Weekends. For families hoping to give their kids a place to unplug, enjoy nature, and make new friends, Frost Valley also offers a Summer Day Camps.

SOCIAL STUDIES

The vote for Social Studies has passed with an earth shattering 99% approval rating. The message is loud and the message is clear. The Crew is ready to go to school.

Luckily for us, there are a ton of smart folks and professors here who have reached out and are eager to get involved. This bodes well for our future curriculum.

Next steps: I’ll get to work putting together the lesson plan, finding our professors, and organizing all the details. Stay tuned.

QUARTERLIES

This is the final week for the winter snail mail — One tree planted per letter. Get your Winter Quarterly.

P.S. I’ll see all the Quarterly holders at the seasonal gathering.

SPRING IS COMING

TOGETHER WITH PINK’S

Spring is around the corner — No really, I promise — the clocks change in the coming days and spring is only 3 weeks away.

It’s time to schedule the clean and get your home in tip-top shape. Brush off the cobwebs, get those windows sparkling, empty out the gutters, and get the deck ready for grill season.

There’s no better team to get the job done than the great folks at Pink’s. They show up when they say they will and they do the work that has earned them hundreds of 5 star reviews.
