Welcome back my friend. The river is calling, and I have a trout to catch — Enjoy the edition and I’ll see ya out there.

FIELD GUIDES

I just John Hancock’d the new Catskill Crew website design, and now, we enter the development phase.

One thing that I’m particularly excited about is the new “FIELD GUIDES”.

While you won’t find any secret swimming holes or fly fishing spots — you will get trusted picks and honest reviews of absolute gems across the region.

Looking for the best burgers? Yup, I spent $2,750 doing burger research so you know where to find the best ones.
Need a new favorite dive bar? I’ve drunk the well spirits and gobbled down the questionable pickled eggs on your behalf.
Maybe you want to know where our best chefs eat? Worry not, we have you covered.

None of this will be pay to play. That’s not the way it works here…

The recommendations will come from me, our esteemed local correspondents, and ur fellow Crew Members. Yeah, that means YOU — I’ll be seeking your wisdom and guidance along the way.

The developers are working hard (Mark, I’m looking at you — it’s crunch time, buddy) and I’ll get this live ASAP.

DINNER CLUB

Woodstock clinched 1st place in our vote for the next Dinner Club. So we’re running it back after a few months.

HOW THIS THING WORKS:

✦︎ You take a quick quiz about your interests, food preferences, and what types of folks you are looking to meet — you know, that kinda thing.

✦︎ You get matched with five other Catskill Crew Members based on those quiz results.

✦︎ You’ll receive your invite the morning of the dinner and discover which restaurant your group you’ll be dining at.

✦︎ During dinner, everyone across town will receive a notification with the secret location of an afterparty to keep the good times rolling. This is optional, so if you’re in a food coma, you can go home and sleep it off.

MOMENT

The angler waits out the cold and dark winter months for early May — the moment when the trout begin to consistently rise and the rivers reawaken.

Browns, rainbows, and brookies giving chase to the mayflies, caddis, and stoneflies that take flight — a scene that has unfolded for millions of years.

Often, you can sit back and just watch it all play out, until the right trout breaks the surface and rolls back under — then back in the river, for the season is short and we can’t waste it.

SNAIL MAIL

Turn the screens off, take a seat and enjoy some snail mail. The Spring Quarterly is shipping out — directly to your mailbox. P.S. one tree planted for every letter mailed
